We're all tucked into our home and nesting for winter. Some bad news,
the movers broke Ethan's piano and as we're in a dispute with them over the
additional $900 they charged us (in addition to the $2000...for a four mile
move...of an 1090 square foot apartment...) they won't honor any insurance
claims. They wrecked our wedding topper and some of our corners too. Hammer's
Moving and Storage - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Other that that bit of ugliness
everything is good.
A
lazy summer so far - for one of us! For Mom and Dad though, it's been crazy as
we roll up to a July 31st closing on our new home. We've bought a 1950 sq. foot
twin with a fenced in backyard and a nice large GUEST ROOM (HINT. HINT.). And a
fireplace in the living room! It's going to be home for another...oh, decade or
so. Look forward to showing you all! We're scheduling contractors to paint and
carpet, buying appliances, and just generally digging a nice cozy foxhole of
debt. Thank goodness for the $8000 home buyer's rebate...
Ethan has had a fun summer so far. Granny Folse and Grandpop Mike came
to visit in July and brought Ethan a piano keyboard and a pogo stick for his "4
1/2" birthday - he LOVES that keyboard! See the pictures
section!
Well, good and bad so far. Ethan got to see Grandma and Grandpa Soper
and Auntie Jennie, and he enjoyed that a lot (and if Grandma and Grandpa ever
catch up on their sleep they'll remember him fondly too). Derek and I went on
vacation on the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph - I went scuba diving for the first
time and loved it. On the bad side, we tried to buy a house on short sale and
the owner yanked the sale when he became impatient for his bank to agree to the
contract. So we lost money, time and some credit rating from applying for the
mortgage. Thanks for nothing, bud. (Still bitter)! We're still looking though
- hopefully we'll find a home soon. New
pics up in the Gallery for Ethan's stay with the Sopers, and still waiting on
yours JENNIE! *jabby poke*
May was Visit Grandma and Grandpa time,
Ethan was there from May 23rd to May 30th. He enjoyed his stay very much and
still brings up things that he did ("hey Mama, remember when I was at Grandma
and Grandpa's and I got to play with shaving cream? That was COOL!"). June has
been lazy summer days, with Ethan spending a lot of time with his friend Vidan
next door (Mom really likes Vidan's mother too - excellent lady). It's hot and
rainy and well...summer!
March was broken bone month - owie! On Friday,
Mar 5th, I had a high-speed tricycle accident at my new daycare (church
school!). I was riding as fast as I could across the blacktop and I fell and
tried to stop my fall and my wrist broke. Mom says it was the ulna snapped in
half and the radius with a buckle fracture - cast pictures and X-rays to
come!
February was a slow month, but Mommy decided it was time to leave
my old daycare. They would not move me up into the bigger kid's room even
though I am potty trained and the lady who was my teacher had 15 kids all day
and I had no one to pay attention to me. So now I'm in a GREAT new daycare,
Salford Mennonite Child Care Center, and I love it! There are 20 kids in my
class but three teachers, so the ratio is 1:7. I get good care and I already
like my teachers, Miss Amy, Miss Becka, and Miss Rachael. I started on March
3rd because March 2nd was a snow day, but it was an eventful week. I had
trouble settling down for nap on Tuesday and Thursday, on Wednesday I broke a
shed window with a snowball, and on Friday I broke my wrist falling off my
tricycle at daycare. My first hospital trip! I was brave, and didn't really cry
until we got home. My ulna is snapped in half and my radius has a buckle
fracture, and Monday Daddy will take me to get a real cast. I hope it doesn't
itch....
I had such a wonderful birthday! My friends Robby and Justin
came, and Justin's older brother Alex and his baby sister Ava. We played in my
room, there were balloons and Daddy made big twisty balloon animals, and there
was ice cream cake and there was a treasure chest pinata and ooo I got "The
Pirates Who Don't Do Anything" on DVD and coloring books and a Spider-Man boppy
bag and an Ants in the Pants game and then we went to Mr. B's to play all of us
and it was FUN! I slept like a rock last night.
What I'm Doing:
Sight reading some words,
counting to 30 (but skipping 29 a lot still), and drawing stick figures. Still
running and jumping as much as I can! Also I'm working on potty training at
night - no more pull-ups but I still need to be taken potty in the middle of the
night.
Learning to sit quietly at naptime, doing outside water play at
school, painting and playing in the sensory table. Also playing every day with
my new piano and microphone! Thanks Granny and Grandpop!
Playing with
Vidan, blowing bubbles, writing numbers, writing my name, petting the cat (we've
come a long way there!), and playing outside with the Kindergarten kids at lunch
since I don't want to nap anymore!
Dancing, playing make-believe, and
getting the cat to trust me. Learning more about emotions and compassion - and
learning to get dressed with one hand.
Typing my name! Well, at least
until my wrist got broken. I'm reading Hop on Pop with Mommy and learning to
read, and I love Jonah by the Veggietales people.
Phonetics and playing
with Tinkertoys, learning to cook my own food and smacking the heck out of my
birthday Spider-Man boppy bag.
